Programming the Icom-M802, in the 'Open Ham/Dial Mode' The Icom M802 has an Open Ham/Dial Mode mode not discussed in early documentation. The Open Ham/Dial Mode mode enables the M802 to transmit on 'Ham' frequencies, transmit on LSB ( Lower Side Band), and manually tune almost like a regular AM or ham radio.
The CLAR/RX key toggles the radio back-and-forth between the Channel Mode and the Open Ham/Dial Mode. To determine if the Open Ham/Dial Mode on your your M802 is enabled press the CLAR/RX key on the keypad.
If enabled, the LCD display will change, displaying frequency information with a cursor beneath the rightmost digit. If the display does not change or there's no cursor beneath the displayed frequency, the Open Ham/Dial Mode is not enabled. Here's how to put the radio into the Open Ham/Dial Mode and set frequencies: DockSide Radio powers-up all M802's it sells. We verify that the Open Ham/Dial Mode is enabled, and that the User Group frequency database is up-to-date.
